Hey Tinaso,
The cymbals are all converted Zildjians. The crashes are all two zone and chokeable. The ride and hi hat are three zone (the ride is chokeable). The splash and china are single zone.
The primary bow triggers are piezos mounted in little metal project boxes with a jack. The edges are done with force sensing switch tape. The bells on the hi-hat and ride are additional piezos (and require an additional second cable so both of those cymbals have two cables).
The model of cymbal is deliberately heavy so that I can dampen the backs with clear poly film (several mil thick) to kill most of the oscillation very quickly.
And that's it. They work pretty much like other piezo and piezo/switch cymbals, just using real (dampened) cymbals instead of polymer, plastic, rubber and the usual.
By the way, Alesis is now selling a few models of very similar cymbals now under the product name "Surge".
Le mande otro mail diciendo:
Hi!!!
Thx for the quick response.
I want to know how the choke system is done. Could you do some pics of it please? I know about the surge cymbals but i wanna do some diy ones :).
Again thx.
Tino
