O
DW.

Peter Erskine: from Yamaha to DW Drums....
I will only have good things to say about Yamaha Drums, because Yamaha makes an excellent drumset — always has and always will. A terrific company with plenty of fantastic drummers as part of their roster. I'll miss being part of that family.
That being said, I am very grateful for the opportunity to begin playing DW Drums; I have long admired their hardware, particularly their flush-based cymbal stands (it's my impression and considered opinion that cymbals actually sound better with lighter weight stands, i.e., the whole kit seems to sing that much more when everything gets vibrating ... kind of like the "old days") ... and the drums are absolutely beautiful. Long admired their kits in certain settings; discovered how great they can sound when given a chance and tuned (jazz-wise) accordingly.
For those who might be curious, this move was not motivated by any financial concerns or angles ... in fact, I'll probably wind up taking a loss in quite a few respects ... but the passion and the immediacy of response from the DW team when it came to drumming and drumset ideas was extremely refreshing and inspiring to experience firsthand at their factory. My wife and I both became believers.
I can tell you that I am 100% happy, and that I honestly feel that the drums are helping me to become a better player. I am certainly more inspired than in recent years/past.
Peter Erskine
