Hey dudes

So... I don't speak Spanish but my friend kustomdk invited me here from a drum forum that is being shut down. I will use Google to translate, for now. Hopefully I can re-learn enough Spanish to at least read along.
I have Mapex drums and mostly Zildjian cymbals. I will try to post some pictures soon.

"Entonces ...

I think I saw you at Drummersworld, or? Which forum is closing down? Or should I say which forum is open today? Hahaha

Where are you coming from? (Country)

Best regards!

Gracias por la bienvenida!

Looks like I am at Drummerworld, twice. I must've forgotten I had an older account there. Oops. I am on several drum forums, but I never felt like I belonged at most of them.
Official Drummer is closing. I've been there for 12 years, within a couple months of it starting. It has been my internet home for quite a while.
I'm from Florida (USA) so I should speak more Spanish than I do, but I'm not around it that much anymore. There is probably more Portuguese spoken in my immediate area. I'd like to become fluent in both since a lot of people assume I speak Spanish/Portuguese.

Hi, welcome aboard!

I've been in Florida this January on vacation, it was my second time there, I love your swampy country, from which part are you?

Great nick by the way.

Haha! Yes, it's all swamp or reclaimed swamp here.
I am a little north of Fort Lauderdale, about one hour north of Miami and three hours south of Orlando.
Where did you visit when you were here?

I found my pictures. I have two sets, both are Mapex Meridian Maple. I will probably be selling the smaller set soon.
Let me see if I can figure out how to attach pictures here...

Where did you visit when you were here?

I've been driving around the estate, from Miami to Fort Lauderdale to Orlando (theme parks) and then to Homosassa to swim with manatees and lastly down to Big Cypress and Everglades through the west coast (Tampa/Venice/Naples) in search of big gators, which finally appeared despite the cold temperature.

Any suggestion for future visits?

You have been to more places than I have! It depends what you want to see. There are a lot of springs and rivers near the Ocala area. I've seen mastodon fossils on Peace River. There are a few race tracks. Daytona, Homestead and Sebring are the largest. I want to watch some 24 hour races soon. Cape Canaveral and the Cocoa Beach area are really nice, plus you have all the NASA stuff there. There are all sorts of things in The Keys. St. Augustine is a must. It's the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the USA, originally settled by Spain. And if you go back to Tampa, Crush Drums is located there. I'd swing by the Big Cat Rescue if you're into that, when in Tampa. I have only driven through the panhandle, so I am not sure what is out there.
Let me know if you're in town. There are tons of things near me that I still haven't seen yet.

Sure, you know, it's a classic: foreigners usually visit more places than the locals do! Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm not into race cars or the NASA, but I've seen pictures of St. Augustine and looks great, and I also would love to visit the Big Cat Rescue because I love animals!...in fact, I'm currently looking for a job to work with alligators, as a conservationist (taking care of them, not in a farm or a tourist attraction), do you know any place to contact with?

Guys, if you spend so much time doing those things you¨ll never have time to practice your drums...hahaha
Si hacen tantas visitas no tendrán tiempo de estudiar batería.

Any interest in listening any famous drummer living in the area like Marty Morrell, Duffy Jackson, etc.? hahaha

Oops. I've been forgetting to use a translator. Sorry.
Oops. Me he estado olvidando de usar un traductor. Lo siento.

So you have a soft spot for the old Florida swamp cat? Brave man. I don't know of anywhere in particular, and it's been a while since I've really looked into the alligator stuff, but Everglades Holiday Park has a handful that they care for, and do shows with to pay the bills. They should know of other places if you contact them.

There are a TON of drummers around here, but I only know of a few. My friend Mark Poiesz moved to Tennessee and plays for Tyler Farr now. I occasionally run into Derek Roddy at restaurants. Nicko McBrain has a restaurant nearby. He goes to a church that my old bassist does music for. They have been going cymbal shopping together. I saw him at that church once like 15 years ago.

That's Tux! She's a feral cat. She decided we were friends one day and refuses to leave. She's one of the coolest cats I've ever seen. There was another orange feral named Morris when I moved in. He had to be put down. He was sick and in late stages of FIV (cat version of AIDS). I have another black one now too, who I call Ninja because he's always fighting.

It's a rule? Oops. I will try to run everything through a translator until I learn more. I will post English too, just in case there's a bad translation. I should be trying to post in Spanish. It is rude not to. I would actually like to learn real Spanish instead of what I normally hear around here (Cuban, Puerto Rican, Argentinian, Venezuelan, Colombian, Mexican, Guatemalan...).
Es una regla? Oops.

Thanks for the tip, mate! I'll contact them shortly // Gracias por el consejo, colega, los contactaré pronto.

By the way, does Derek Roddy play also blast beats with the cutlery in restaurants while waiting for the food?

Haha! Nope, he never joins in with me. :(
¡Jaja! No, él nunca se une conmigo.
